Ultra-processed foods (UPFs) make up 58% of calories in the average American diet. We've analyzed 26,000+ grocery products and ranked the most ultra-processed items in 12 categories across 8 major stores — based on the presence of artificial colors, chemical preservatives, emulsifiers, artificial sweeteners, and other industrial markers.

🔬 Our UPF Criteria

We flag products as ultra-processed when they score below 40 AND contain 3 or more of these markers:
